Caffeine
Caffeine is a mild central nervous system
stimulant, so when you get that ”buzz” you get from a couple of
cups of coffee, your baby is getting it, too. And there’s evidence
that high caffeine consumption (four to seven cups of coffee per
day) can increase your risk of miscarriage or stillbirth.
About 300 mg of caffeine or less per day is
considered relatively safe even during pregnancy, but many doctors
advise pregnant women to simply eliminate the risk by eliminating
caffeine from their diets. If you decide to curtail your caffeine
intake, be sure to wean yourself slowly to avoid "withdrawal”
symptoms like headache and tiredness.
